Welcome to ICAP 2030 in Zurich

“Celebrating the Power of Psychology: Building Bridges Across a Multipolar World”

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the International Association of Applied Psychology and the School of Applied Psychology at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), it is my great privilege to welcome you to the 32nd International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP) in Zurich.

This congress is taking place at a defining moment. As we approach the 2030 deadline for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the global community is increasingly looking to psychological science for the behavioral insights and social innovations needed to shape a more sustainable future. The challenges we face are complex and interconnected, and psychology has a vital role to play in addressing them.

Our motto, which was co-developed by a diverse and dedicated team of students and colleagues, captures our shared purpose. We are here to celebrate the power of psychology: to recognize our discipline as a driving force for well-being, resilience, and meaningful systemic change. At the same time, we are committed to building bridges. In a multipolar world, connecting cultures, disciplines, and perspectives is no longer optional; it is essential. Psychology serves as a vital link, fostering dialogue and understanding across boundaries.

Zurich has long stood as a hub of international exchange and cooperation. Throughout this congress, we invite you to cross the bridges we have built – between research and practice, between local challenges and global solutions, and between diverse voices united by a common goal. Together, we will demonstrate that although our world may be multipolar, our commitment to human flourishing is universal.

Welcome to ICAP 2030. Let us build the future – together.

Dear friends and colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 32nd International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP) on behalf of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) and the School of Applied Psychology at the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences. Our congress will mark a return to the country in which the IAAP was founded more than a century ago, this time to the beautiful and multicultural city of Zurich, where tradition and history blend with modernity and outstanding quality of life.

The ICAP is a landmark event that brings together academics, practitioners, students, and institutional partners from around the world. Every four years, we celebrate our global community of psychologists with an exceptional scientific and professional program. You will find keynote presentations from leading thinkers, cutting-edge symposia, and vibrant oral and poster sessions, among other events. These sessions reflect not only the range and breadth of the work being developed by psychologists worldwide, but also the enriching dialogue between global solutions and strategies and local needs and cultural specificities.

In a world that continues to change rapidly, these moments of evidence-based, open, respectful, and constructive dialogue are fundamental. And Zurich offers an ideal setting to build bridges across a multipolar world.

I warmly invite you to join us in Zurich for the 32nd ICAP in 2030. I look forward to the conversations, collaborations, and discoveries that will emerge from our congress.
